Finally a week filled with normal things. Normal school for the kids. Normal school for Anna. And well, normal whatever my life is now. We have for the most part found a good rhythm for getting ready in the mornings, getting to school on time and things like homework once we are all back home in the afternoon. Not only did we have completely normal week, we also have another normal week coming up....
Port Campbell might be the very definition of a quaint seaside town. It pretty much has one street where all the shops and restaurants are situated, and a few side streets for accommodations. You know it’s a small town when most things close at 8 p.m. and don’t open till 8 a.m. the next morning. We found a great pizza and pasta place for dinner even though they were swamped so we waited a good while for our food....
If you have followed the past few blog posts you know that the girls have barely gone to school and this week is no exception. With Easter Monday being off and Friday being ANZAC day (memorial day), the kids also got Thursday off as the school had a ‘curriculum day’ (where the teachers get to work without students being there). With having spent over a month exploring Melbourne we figured it was time to see some more of Australia....
It is funny how a country that is so similar in many ways to what you are used to is also so different. Take Easter for example. In Norway the country basically shuts down (but then again Norway shuts down for the smallest excuse). Here they do have off too, but it is only one day and not everything is actually closed. The funny thing though is that the day that most people have off is Good Friday....
After only one week of school the kids have yet more vacation. It was good to have that week to get used to going to a new school in a different country. Let’s hope that going back after the break is more seamless than it was last week. But more vacation means finding more things to do. Not that we have run out of things to do in the city, but Anna has school to deal with as there are assignments due....
