Phillip Island - part 1

Our first (and possibly only) visitors arrived this week. Thamsyn and Cat made the arduous journey from the States all they way to Australia. With an almost 15 hour flight from San Francisco to Melbourne it must be one of the longest airplane rides you can take. Not to mention the domestic flights just to get to your transpacific one! Anyway, they arrived safely and once they get over their initial jet-lag it was time to head to Phillip Island....

Dandenong Ranges National Park

On Saturday we took a hike in the Dandenong Ranges National Park. Just so we are clear, it is not as epic as the name implies. For starters there are no mountains here. The area is certainly hilly, but this park is known for others things then sweeping vistas and breathtaking mountain peaks. For instance, it is home to the Superb Lyrebird. Sadly we didn’t see one so you will have to look at pictures online....

Half way there

It has been quiet here for the past few weeks. That was not entirely by choice. I have been dealing with a pinched nerve in my right shoulder/arm that has caused a decent amount of pain, but also numbness in my fingers. It has severely limited what I can do for the past four weeks. Even now I find it hard to type on a keyboard because the feedback you are used to from your fingers hitting the keys is not the same....
